ICYMI: Axios: “Trump’s funding freeze awakens the ‘Resistance'”

WASHINGTON – In response to President Trump’s move to cut all federal funding aid that will hurt tens of millions of Americans who depend on these critical services, MoveOn members immediately jumped in to fight back. In less than 24 hours, more than 36,000 people—with representation from every state—signed a petition opposing Trump’s massive funding cuts that will shutter preschools, stop Medicaid payments, defund Meals on Wheels, cut cancer research and so much more.

“My husband works with HUD (the Department of Housing and Urban Development), our household’s only source of income. This cut in funding means he cannot be paid. He doesn’t want to lose his job,” said Megan B., a petition signer.

MoveOn also joined Climate Action Campaign and other groups who rallied outside of the White House in opposition to these harmful cuts.

“We’re only one week in, and Trump is already screwing Americans in favor of helping Elon Musk and gifting billionaires with more tax cuts. Prices are spiking, and people are angry and scared. We’re seeing loud and clear that nobody wants to stop funding for programs that families and seniors rely on for health care, preschool, and housing,” said MoveOn spokesperson Britt Jacovich.

A surge in MoveOn member energy comes as new reporting from Axios shows that Trump’s extreme overreach to cut federal funding is awakening the MAGA opposition.
