Editor’s Note – I am No Happier Than You Probably Are
12 months ago 47
Stephan A. Schwartz, Editor - SchwartzreportStephan: I want you to know that I am no happier than you probably are about the news you are reading in the daily SR. I have been doing SR since 1991, and for the last seven months, I have found the job more difficult, expensive, to protect it from attacks, and more depressing than at any time since I began 34 years ago. I publish Schwartzreport in favor of the earth, the interconnectedness and interdependence of all life, democracy, liberty, and things that are life-affirming. I also try to warn you about actions and events that threaten those values. If you read me regularly, you know every report has been vetted for accuracy. I am not interested in partisan politics except anthropologically, by which I mean the same thing as an anthropologist studying tribes. The only thing I care about is does something promote wellbeing? Not what some politician says, but what is the fact-based reality. And, sadly, in the United States, I am not seeing much that is promoting wellbeing. Rather, the opposite. I just want to let you all know that I am not picking these stories randomly, or because I am trying to defame Trump, his administration, and the Republican Party; I am picking them because they describe the trends that are actually happening, because they describe the fact-based reality.
