Pre-Season Friendly

Team: Warren, Friel, trialist, Cuthbert, McCann, Dyke, Neziri, Dixon-Bonner, trialist, Talla, Coomes

Subs: Halliday, Adjetey-Brew, Balogun, Aoraha, trialist, Boddy, Scarlett

Attendance: 372

In goal for the Geordies was 37-year-old Sam Beasant, son of Dave Beasant.

Eighteen-year-old Charlie Warren was the Rangers keeper, and the outfield players included Elijah Dixon-Bonner plus two trialists.

Meanwhile ten players were heading off to Singapore to compete in the Soccer 7s Series. Namely; Kasey Taylor, Jaiden Putman, Jake Leahy, Alex Wilkie, Charlie Street, Rico Kennedy, Fraser Neill, Ridwan Hassan, Archie O’Brien and 16-year-old Ashley Trujillo.

With just three minutes gone, it was the home side who took the lead from Jordy Mongoy’s header at the far post.

Then, the R’s had the ball in the net after good work by Jake Coomes, but it was ruled out for offside.

However, on 13 minutes, following a mix-up at the back, Mongoy was well-placed to take advantage and slot the ball home for goal number two.

Rangers were guilty of constantly giving the ball away and had rarely entered the Hanwell half in the opening stages.

As the away side looked for a way back into the game, Elijah Dixon-Bonner’s cross found one of the trialists, who then forced an excellent save from the Geordies keeper.

The home side went further ahead around the half-hour mark from Dwayne Duncan’s free header at the far post.

At the other end, after Jake Coomes had set-up Lorent Talla, the latter fired his attempt directly at the keeper.

Rangers pulled a goal back on 41 minutes courtesy of a trialist who, after seizing upon a loose ball, tapped it into the net.

Just before the break, Charlie Warren made a superb flying save to deny Hanwell a fourth goal. Half-time: 1-3.

Paul Furlong made three changes for the start of the second-half when he brought on Cory Adjetey-Brew, Isaiah Balogun and Alex Aoraha at the expense of Noah McCann, Gabriel Cuthbert and Lorent Talla respectively.

This was followed eight minutes later when Joel Halliday replaced Charlie Warren in goal.

Rangers began to grow into the game and three more changes were made on 63 minutes, which saw Harvey Boddy, Leon Scarlett and a trialist coming on for Enis Neziri, Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Jake Coomes respectively.

Mr Fyfield awarded a soft free kick to the home side just outside the penalty area in the ‘D’, which then flashed just wide of the upright.

Around the 70-minute mark, the Geordies’ No.19 fired just wide of the target.

Then, a minute or so later, Hanwell’s No. 14 floated his free kick into the box and Joel Halliday did well to successfully grab the ball whilst under pressure.

After Rangers were awarded a free kick 20-yards out, Alex Aoraha stepped up and proceeded to shoot into the wall.

But a few minutes later, he sustained a knock and had to go off. With no further substitutes available, Enis Neziri was allowed to return in his place.

On 87 minutes, Rangers’ trialist No.9 burst through, and his effort went behind for a corner.

Into added time, and a different trialist headed the ball in the net at the far post.

Next up for Paul Furlong’s side is a trip to Ruislip to take on Wealdstone.
