Time truly has a way of sneaking up on us here at Camp Laurel South. It feels like just yesterday we were greeting buses on Arrival Day, and now, somehow, we’re only a day away from packing our bags and saying our goodbyes. The past few days have been nothing short of incredible, filled with some of the most memorable moments of the summer. Second Session has been a whirlwind of laughter, competition, creativity, and friendship — and we’ve made sure to savor every last drop.

One of the biggest highlights came with Moosebowl XIV, where our oldest male campers delivered an unforgettable flag football showdown under the lights. In a game for the history books, both sides lit up the scoreboard and combined for the most points ever scored in the 14-year history of this storied rivalry. The energy on the field and in the stands was electric from start to finish, and the pride on every player’s face said it all.

If that weren’t enough, just days later brought us our Katahdin Cup, where our oldest female campers put on a soccer masterclass. After a hard-fought match, regulation ended in a tie — but history was waiting to be made. In the first-ever extra-time finish for the Cup, a golden goal found the back of the net and sent camp into absolute frenzy. The cheers could be heard all the way across Crescent Lake as teammates, friends, and counselors rushed the field in celebration.

Beyond the sports fields, we also saw our creative spirits shine with two outstanding theatre productions: Finding Nemo and Legally Blonde. The cast and crew of both shows left the audience in awe — whether it was the colorful, heartfelt underwater world of Nemo or the high-energy, hilarious, and empowering moments of Elle Woods and company. The laughter, cheers, and applause rolled right through the final curtain call.

Today, our final program day has been off the charts with energy and excitement, as campers made the most of every moment. Tonight, we’ll gather for our end-of-summer banquet — an evening to celebrate together, share stories, and debate the most important decision of the night: “steak, lobster, or lasagna?” Tomorrow we’ll pack our bags and spend one last fun-filled day soaking up the joy of camp friendships. While our memories may not fit in our bags, we’ll carry them with us forever, until we meet again on the shores of Crescent Lake.
