This is just a recap of the vns I remember coming out this year. This isn’t a complete list, most of the nukiges are out. Anything that’s like 20 minutes long is normally out. I probably missed a couple here and there. Like there’s even a couple I had to check because it wasn’t on the list but I knew it came out. There’s also some where I saw people say the tl was horrendous and the plot made no sense because of it; so those are out too.

If there’s a green check means I also wrote about it. Yellow means I wrote something but I haven’t pushed it out yet, or I’m planning to but that’s kind of rare. Also, some of these are more of an assumption, like something I can think is a moe title might actually be pretty plot heavy.

If the title is green, I either liked it or I’m interested in playing it. If it’s yellow, it’s a maybe. White means not really. If the name is already on the image, then it might have a colored line that says what I feel about it.

I won’t describe them. A good part of that is because this would go on forever if I did. A video of this post is coming soon and that has the vndb descriptions on it. But I also kind of start a title based on the cover or the brand. Like you look at the cover of ROAD59 and either go, “that’s not for me” or “that’s rad”.

The adaption ones:

These are the ones that’re from something else. Honestly I don’t know anything about Regenerate, it’s a weird one. It had some rhythm game and then an anime was getting announced but then this vn came out before the anime did. But the vn itself has some really basic rhythm shooting thing. So it’s one of those where I could’ve slapped in other sections but they were already getting full and this one had space lol.

Oldies and Remakes:

Most of these are old titles that finally got an official tl. Some of them got like a higher resolution or something but I honestly don’t care about that unless there’s some gameplay attached to it. The da capo one is kind of a remake. I know there’s an extra route or two alongside the visual update but I’m not sure if they updated the routes because most of them were pretty whatever.

The more plot heavy ones

These are the more plot oriented ones. Some gravitate towards the more moe style to the point that I’m not sure they belong so I moved it to its own section. But more probably should have been put over there. Senmomo has an official tl coming out eventually but I heard good things about the fantl anyway. Summer Pockets already had a fantl, but the official came out now and I haven’t heard much about it. I liked Geminism but I know others who didn’t. Honestly if you can power through the first girl whining, it’s a pretty fun time.

Pillagers of Raillore if more of an action flick but there’s still a plot behind it. From what I heard, you can skip the original tsui no sora for the remake. Technically Honjin Murders should’ve been in the adaptions. I read the book a couple of years back, it’s not the greatest but it’s still fun. Putrika is the only one I’m really interested in but I’m waiting for the 2nd part to show up.

I heard Road59 wasn’t that great, but I had fun with Soumei and I saw people weren’t really a fan of that either. Virtual Girl and Zato are on my radar and I’ll eventually get to Sousaku, I usually confuse this with the looseboy title that never got translated and I remember that one got shat on.

Moeplot

These are the ones I’m either not sure if it’s actually plot with a side of moe, are actually just moe stuff with some plot. Like I probably put Irohika here too as it probably has some pretty good plot points that’re drowned out by cute shenanigans. Like Koichoco has two routes I’d consider plot oriented and I’m pretty sure Tayutama actually has a decent amount of plot but just looks like a moe title. Maybe it’s like Snow.
I think I remember people saying toHeart 2 had enough to not be considered a plain moe title but I’m not sure. It’s kind of the deal with most of these.

Moe

These are probably all of the moe ones. Like yeah Futamata has some drama here and there and Tenshi Reboot has minimal parts but they’re all like 5%~10%. I remember talking to someone about Kanade and how we joke that it’s just Ginka 2 or Atri 3 but apparently they mentioned this one just forgets about the plot almost the whole time lol.

I’m currently reading Lovepical and I assume that’s like typical love or something but I just think of pickles when it comes up. I think it’s one of the weaker smee titles but it’s still fun here and there. Outside of that, I don’t really care about any of these.

Nukiplot

I don’t really care about any of these. I know a guy that swears that the funbag titles are actually a lot more than just some titty games and I’ve heard bits of Mojika’s plot and it sounded dumb as hell. But then again, I can make Dead Days sound retarded too and that one was actually ok. The Homunculus one is probably more just mostly exposition but I don’t know. It’s the one I’d probably try out of the three as well.

Comedy

These are technically what I’d call the comedic ones. Like they’re meant to be in other places but I always heard them as the funny ones. Like Harukuru is like a smorgasbord. Some say there’s actually a great plot that gets shown halfway through and until then, it’s all just hscenes. Others said it was pretty comical, so probably between the hscenes.
Like you can technically put the Goei ones as Sol titles but it’s the underlying theme of what Kaito is trying to do. What’s in your face is a constant barrage of shit talking and tomfoolery.

Gameplay

These are the gameplay ones. I finished Shuten Order and that’s about it. I don’t really care about Rance or the VenusBlood titles much and Hundred Line is just massive so I’ve been putting that down in the backlog. I’d want to read Rain Code before it anyway. Type Noise and All in Abyss would be the ones I’d be looking to give a try. Technically the Kamitsukabi should be in the adaption one or even like the spinoff/fd section but I just put it here. I didn’t really group them too strictly. Gun Dog is a great name, lol.

I’m not sure if it’s even a vn:

These are titles that’re still on vndb but I’m not sure if they should be in there. Pretty sure the top two are rpgs. Like I remember the neptunia games being on vndb before so maybe these will be kicked out eventually or I’m totally wrong and it’s 80% dialogue. It’s how like I don’t think Mary Skelter should be in there.

Otome

These are the otomes, there’s actually a decent chunk I’d want to read. I read Red Bell’s Lament and it was pretty ok. I’m interested in bustafellows 2 but it’s kind of pricey. So was DesperaDrops but there was a decent sale so I got that one. I like one of the writers in Mistonia so I might give that a try. And the writer for Itehari did do Piofiore where I like it but was also falling asleep while reading it lol.

Yuri

I read Iwakura more for the art and I thought I’d like the premise. But when it focused on the yuri, I was rather bored. I wouldn’t mind trying Tithe in Blood though.

BL

These are the BL ones, I don’t care about any of them. I remember thinking Masquerade was a title I knew someone read like 10 years ago, but apparently it was the same artist and she even did LuckyDog1. All I remember was being confused why the prisoner was raping the prison guard.

FDs

These are the fan disks. I still have to get around to reading Festa.

The rest

And these are the rest, they could be placed in a couple of places but I never looked into them. Memory Girl is probably the one I’d give a try.
