Purpose of the Inclusive Educator Cohort

The Inclusive Educator Cohort brings together outstanding educators who serve special education students and multilingual learners. Through collaboration, reflection, and shared practice, the cohort seeks to deepen our collective understanding of impactful instructional strategies that help all students thrive, while providing strategic support to special populations. 

Today’s classrooms are more diverse than ever, with increasing numbers of students bringing a wide range of learning needs, language backgrounds, strengths, and experiences. As a result, the work of ensuring learning classrooms for students with Special Education designations has become increasingly important. We believe some of the most valuable expertise lives in the classrooms of exceptional teachers. This cohort is designed to learn from those educators, elevate their practice, and share what works with the broader educational community. 

Program Goals

The Inclusive Educator Cohort aims to:

• To invest in and learn from teachers who are highly effective at ensuring the success and achievement of special education students and multilingual learners
• Create a community where educators can learn from one another’s expertise, challenges, and successes  
• To develop video clips of classroom teachers using TLAC techniques and teaching practices that support special education students and multilingual learners

Benefits to Cohort Members and Schools

Participating educators will receive: 

• Targeted professional development focused on inclusive instructional practices
• Opportunities to grow through self-reflection, classroom video analysis, and collaborative feedback
• A network of accomplished educators serving similar student populations
• The opportunity to contribute to resources that will support educators

Commitment

The cohort will run from November 2026 – March 2027.

During the cohort, participating teachers will:

• Film and submit classroom video at least three times throughout the cohort. Teachers and schools are responsible for recording lessons. We recommend recording using your cell phone. 
• Attend 3-4 60-minute cohort meetings between November and March to watch video, reflect on practice, and learn alongside fellow cohort members.
