Have you ever needed to measure something but did not have any measuring tools available? The most popular thread on Reddit offers you permanent access to a ‘rule of thumb’ (of sorts). My hand span is 7.5”, a number I won’t forget. Reddit has many more useful suggestions and information tidbits.

I follow a feed called Interesting Facts, and one day I received an article titled “7 Features You Didn’t Know Your Car Had”. Most of the features I knew about, but I’ve never been certain what the image of a swerving car meant. In case you are baffled as well, here is the explanation.
Stability Control
Do you sometimes see a dashboard light that looks like a car with wiggly lines underneath it? That means you have an electronic stability control (ESC) system, sometimes called vehicle stability control, electronic stability program, or dynamic control system. It closely monitors your steering to determine when your car might be out of control, and softly adjusts the brakes on each wheel to compensate for over- or understeering and to prevent rollovers.
If you see the dash light flickering, chances are the system has been activated and is trying to keep your car on track, or driving conditions are just slippery. If it’s steady, it could mean the system is malfunctioning. Some cars have a button that can turn it off.
