Academic research is challenging to conduct and even more challenging to communicate. Much of it is bound up in a set of writing conventions and distribution outlets that limit its accessibility to a small, select group of specialists.
Our AIB Journals Podcast initiative aims to break down these barriers to communication by presenting impactful IB research in simple, direct language on streaming platforms widely used by the general public. These AI-generated podcasts bring the academic research published in JIBS, JIBP, and AIB Insights into a conversational format, making them suitable for on-the-go consumption by highlighting their key areas of interest, methodological approaches, and takeaways.
One major goal of these podcasts is to empower the average listener to find their footing in unfamiliar subject matter and gain a clearer view of IB research’s broader implications. Not only will the audience become familiar with the curiosities and questions that drive academic minds, they will hear how it applies directly to the world around them.
With this reduction in barriers comes an opportunity to understand issues that are at the forefront of the world today. Whether it is technological progress with global implications for IB, cultural shifts and their effects on companies operating in international markets, or perspectives on what current trade wars mean for our daily lives, the subjects are demystified in a way that informs without being patronizing to the listener.
From this initiative, along with complementary accessibility efforts such as the addition of AI-assisted plain-language summaries to all newly published articles in JIBS and JIBP, we hope to do more than just inform. We also wish to provide a better understanding of what is happening in the world of research at leading academic institutions across the world. The ivory tower is no longer an impenetrable obelisk, but a beacon guiding us to a better understanding of the world around us!
