Volunteer Now to be a Reviewer for AIB 2026 Manchester
They say great reviewers make great conferences. If you agree, and you’d like to help make AIB 2026 Manchester our best Annual Meeting yet, we invite you to answer our Call for Reviewers by 20 January. All volunteers will be sent two to three conference papers for review, with a deadline of 15 February 2026. You do not need to attend AIB 2026 in order to serve as a reviewer and scholars of all experience levels are invited to volunteer.
The AIB Reviewer Sign-Up Form requires all volunteers to select up to three conference tracks they wish to review for. If you need help deciding, please consult the AIB 2026 Call for Papers for detailed track descriptions.
Want to get guidance on best practices from seasoned reviewers before making your own contribution? You’re in luck: A free webinar will be offered on 19 January to help anyone looking to expand their IB reviewing skillset. Prefer a more flexible, self-guided approach to professional development? AIB’s newly launched Reviewer Development Program could be the perfect tool for you. Read on to learn more about both of these resources.
Register for Our Free Reviewing Skills Webinar on 19 January
One of the most important tasks for a scholar is to provide feedback to peers by reviewing conference submissions and journal articles. Although guidelines are available, people who are new to reviewing or who seek to refine their reviewing skills may still have questions such as ‘How do you learn how to write an effective review? What is the difference between reviewing for a conference versus for a journal? What does a constructive review mean, and how do you write one? What are common mistakes that reviewers make?
To address these questions and more, AIB will be running a reviewing webinar, during which AIB 2026 Program Chair Sjoerd Beugelsdijk and VP Program-Elect Grazia Santangelo will provide tips and best practices for the entire IB community. This webinar will provide a great introduction for scholars who are new to reviewing, as well as those who want to benefit from the experience of those with inside knowledge of the publication process.
Enroll in AIB’s New Online Reviewer Development Program
AIB’s new, all-online Reviewer Development Program consists of eight distinct modules. Early modules are designed to familiarize participants with the fundamental best practices of developmental reviewing. Later modules build on this knowledge through application exercises so participants can “learn by doing” their own practice review.
The material for each program module consists of a mix of narrated slides, short videos, journal articles on reviewing, exercises, and/or quizzes. Users will be required to finish each module’s capstone quiz or assignment before proceeding to the next one. Participants are invited to work through modules independently and at their own pace. Completion of the full Reviewer Development Program typically takes 10-12 hours. Users will be issued an official Certificate of Completion upon finishing all eight program modules
