Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

At the very least, The Slang-o-Matic Generational Translator will get a lot of laughs in your family.  At its best, it could prove to be helpful to the generations trying to understand each other.  It translates for all four current generations.  For example, Boomers say “Far Out” about something they like. Gen X say “Awesome”.  Millennials say “Lit” and Gen Z say “Fire”. $17.95.

Can a sweater be unshrunk?  Apparently, Yes!

As long as the shrunken sweater still has some stretch, it can be unshrunk.  If it has felted or locked fibers, it’s a goner.

  • Fill a clean sink or plastic bucket with lukewarm water and a capful of either hair conditioner (with a scent you like) or baby shampoo. This solution will work on cotton, cashmere, and most other sweater materials.  For wool sweaters, add an additional 1/3 cup hair conditioner.
  • Immerse the sweater in the solution and soak for 10 minutes. This will help loosen the sweater’s fibers.
  • Drain sweater and gently squeeze out most of the water. Don’t twist or wring the sweater.
  • Roll the sweater up in a clean towel to absorb extra water. The sweater will still be slightly damp.
  • Lay the sweater on a clean dry towel and carefully stretch the sweater back to the desired shape.
  • Leave sweater to air dry. Once it’s dry it should be back to normal.

Defrosting meat can be messy, and chefs say that how meat is defrosted can affect how it cooks and tastes.  These trays are effective at thawing meat because of the double-thick construction and wide draining channels which improves airflow for faster thawing compared to thinner models.  The trays are easy to clean and are dishwasher safe. They are available in a 12” medium size, 14” large size and 16” for family size. The 14” is $29.95.

Daniel Pink gives great advice in a direct, concise way that I like.  His latest video is titled 40 Harsh Truths I Wish I Knew in My 20s.  It takes 13 minutes to watch, and you’ll be happy you did.
