Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.
In London 10 years ago, three women had a great idea. Their concept was using library cards to borrow ‘things’ in addition to books. Now, Libraries of Things are popping up all over the U.S. as services of traditional public libraries.
In Brunswick, ME at the Curtis Memorial Library, in addition to books, you can borrow games, puzzles, a mini golf set, mini dehydrator, woodchipper, chain saw sharpener, a boom box, a ukulele, an enormous lobster pot, a sewing machine, and over 1500 more items. Most are donated, and many worth several hundred dollars. Residents checked out over 3,700 items last year alone.
‘Things’ can be checked out for three weeks, unless the item is very popular, then the borrowing time is less, just like the books. It cuts down on waste, and helps people avoid buying and storing things they only use occasionally.

It is especially good for long or thick hair. It is also great on wet hair because it can glide through fragile wet strands. It is suitable for all hair types and wet or dry hair. It comes in four colors. $19.99.
Contrary to popular opinion, over 57 million people aged 50 and over are playing video games, representing nearly a third of U.S. gamers. Puzzle and logic games are often the top-ranked genre, card and tile games, word and trivia games and multiplayer social games come next in popularity. There are many in this age bracket who play first-person shooter games or hunting simulator games, but they are in the minority.
