The English Football League (EFL) team, Sheffield Wednesday have developed a sponsorship agreement with Mr Vegas, a premier online gambling destination.
Mr Vegas, Immense Group’s colourful online casino brand, will be featured on the front of the Wednesday players’ jerseys, with its emblem prominently shown in the future campaign’s kit design.
MrVegas.com is one of the most rapidly expanding and award-winning online casinos. Mr Vegas offers the most games on the market and is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, giving players the trust of an online casino with strong safety and protection measures in place. Moreover, supporters can attach the logo at a later period if they choose to.
Marco Trucco, CMO of Immense Group, said, “Last season, Mr Vegas had the players’ backs. This year, we’re proud to be front and centre on Sheffield Wednesday’s shirts. We’re deepening our partnership with the club at a time when Mr Vegas is becoming the online casino of choice for many customers. In particular, we applaud Sheffield Wednesday’s commitment to partnering with an authentic and legitimate operator in the UK – a responsible decision that protects the club’s values and ensures fans are engaged with a safe and controlled site. We can’t wait to bring ‘that Vegas feeling’ to Hillsborough, with a range of exciting promotions and experiences planned throughout the season.”
Sheffield Wednesday Commercial Manager, James Todd, said, “It’s fantastic to welcome Mr Vegas as our front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2025/26 season. Our partnership with Mr Vegas has already delivered brilliant activations – from the ‘Ultimate Day Out’ competition ahead of the Steel City derby to ticket and hospitality giveaways that really resonated with fans. As always, any marketing activity will align with our strong stance on promoting responsible and regulated gambling. Mr Vegas is a fun, exciting brand, and we look forward to another season of engaging and rewarding experiences for the Wednesday faithful.”
As the Premier League (PL) advances towards a ban on front-of-shirt gambling sponsorships, which will take effect at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, teams outside the top tier, particularly those in the EFL, continue to cherish these business connections. The PL teams’ decision to voluntarily phase out such sponsorships was part of an effort to address rising concerns about gambling’s prominence in sports, particularly among younger viewers.
This difference in sponsorship rules emphasises the financial disparities between English football’s levels. For teams like Sheffield Wednesday, such agreements continue to be a critical commercial lifeline, funding club operations, player development, and fan engagement programs. It also highlights the wider argument over whether similar laws should be implemented across all divisions or if lower-league clubs should be given more leeway owing to their financial constraints.
